The Rev Pat Robertson of Christian Broadcasting Network and Club700 died at the age of 93, on 08 June 2023. He was greatly used by God to unite the Christian evangelicals as a force against the Christian Left, and forged a link into the Republican party that helped the likes of Presidents George Bush, and Trump being elected. Hence, he was a giant figure of the evangelical Christians for over 60 years. The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu was “deeply saddened”, and called Pat, “a great friend of Israel”.

Together with Jerry Falwell, the good Reverend was effectively the founder of the Christian Right in the 70s, and 80s, at the same time that there was a Holy Spirit revival in South East Asia, and the United States of America with the advent of the mega churches starting in 1967 and 1973 with the return of Jerusalem.

Whilst the evangelical churches are celebrating the life of this great man of God, with his death, his toxic legacy will start to haunt the church. Rev Pat lived a long life, and there was a reason because of God’s grace for a season for him to come into repentance for his sins against gays which he did not. He was the main cause of gays being denied gay marriage across the USA, in the early 90s. His anti-gay theology spread all around the world, particularly in the evangelical mega churches in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. Gays were a convenient hot button issue that he could used to gain power and support both financially and politically. They were the scapegoats. Entering politics, he had no conscience of the harm he had caused, with hundreds of thousands of lives were destroyed and died. The end justifies the means, because gays aren’t going to fight back.

The law never passed away. What you sowed and support, including the deaths and harm caused and spilled blood in the ground, the law demands four times the sin offering. With the death of Rev Pat, just as the church supported him in his anti-gay crusades for over 50 years, the church will suffer four fold his toxic legacy.

Corruption. The end justifies the means. Entering politics is fighting in the gutter with little morality nor conscience. By marrying the evangelical church with politics, we are reminded of Emperor Constantine joining the prevailing early church with the state institutions in AD 321. The door joined the church with corruption, occultic worship, and took away the centrality of Jesus Christ. The same is happening to the evangelical churches. The centrality of the Great Commission of Jesus as Lord and Savior is slowly taken away. When Jesus died, he could have called 10 legions to destroy the inhabitants of Jerusalem. He did not, but humbled himself. The law is coming into the church and making us self righteous without love, compassion nor mercy. We are becoming the Pharisees of old that Jesus so despised. A corrupted church will have little power nor the move of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit glorifies only Jesus

Sin hindering the Great Commission. When Cain killed Abel, the innocent blood in the ground cried out to God for justice. As gays are innocent, and naturally innate with their same sex orientation, what Rev Pat put as sin on the gay community will come back, four fold sin, upon the evangelical Christian church. Therefore, when we pray to God in worship, there is always a reminder to the spirit realm that there is blood in our raised hands. When we asked for healing, miracles, and revivals, it is the sins that the churches have committed which will dragged it down. That is why we see in Singapore and Malaysian churches with anti-gay banners even in the guise of “true love”, but they missed out of the much bigger picture of Great Commission to be Antioch to Asia. There are a few billion souls in India and China, yet we see only the gay teenager holding hands walking passed the church causing our angst to rise up.

Self righteousness entering the church. it is not surprising that the most vile antigay mega churches also have issues with basic integrity and morality, and are obsessed with power, and money and more money. When we put sin on others, we inherit self righteousness because we become little gods. Therefore, as little gods, we don’t see our own sins, and lust for power and wealth. For the last 30 years, the church has been swayed by incredible wealth, luxury, and excessive living whilst demanding that the sheep gives then 10% tithe in God’s name. But it goes to the pastors/senior pastor in their large salary, perks, First class travel, fine dining, and luxury goods. When the media visited the home of a mega church pastor who had even asked the church members to downgrade their housing in order to give to the church building fund, it was no surprise that the mega church senior pastor lived luxuriously, and had a collection of the most expensive watches. Self righteousness dulls our conscience. When Gays are repeatedly condemned by the church, self righteousness enters and dulls our conscience such that we self justify our actions. The end justifies the means. We become proud, and we become god.

In conclusion, the death of Rev Pat Robertson, will bring judgement and a very deep rooted toxic legacy for the evangelical church. He was the modern Emperor Constantine.
