In Lev 18:16, we have what the Jews called the central commandment which is “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone amongst your people, but love your neighbour as yourself. I am the Lord”. These were the commandments quoted by Jesus to the Pharisees. If they had read into Lev 18.16, they would have realised the hidden message Jesus was claiming, “I am the Lord”, the master of the house in Luke 16:1-9 was coming back.

The Pharisees who were gatekeepers of the law failed in the Great Commandment because God was not the Lord of their lives. In Luke 16:14, the pharisees derided Jesus because He told them that they could not serve two masters. In luke 16:19 to 31, Jesus told another story to taunt the Pharisees where they were now the rich man in the story because they only loved themselves and not their neighbour nor Jesus as Lord. Through their unbelief they had rejected Jesus even though Jesus had resurrected from the dead. One is not saved simply being from the lineage of Abraham or being a person of faith. They could not see Jesus because money was their master. Do you believe Jesus as your Messiah, your Lord and Saviour!

Gen 15:6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Matthew 18:6 If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Luke 17:2,3 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. So, watch youself.

As i was in the MRT going passed Church of Our Saviour with its large anti gay posters, it is a reminder of their earlier ministry such as Choices led by Sid Rogers and real harm caused. In Matt 18:6, It is the only time in the bible where Jesus calls for immediate and harsh judgement, for the faith of young believers in their believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour are stumbled. The evangelical charismatic churches in Singapore is guilty and deserving judgement. That is why latter rain revival has not been coming. We have stopped an entire people group, the gay tribe from coming to Jesus Christ! Just because we perceived that they are the worst sinners!

John 3:14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus did not come for a hieracheal religious system. He did not come so that we can better follow the law better, even the way of love. There would be no need for Him to die at the Cross to be lifted up in John 3:14 because Jesus was totally sinless and innocent. He didn’t deserve to die. At the end, it is not what we do, for all of us are dying, bitten by the snake, because all are destined for death for we have sinned before God and man. Good works of love could not cover our sin. The learned who would often say that a loving God could not send them to hell or send snakes, have forgotten that God allowed His Son to go to the Cross. A righteous God could not just overlook our sins. Love alone could not wash away or forgive sin, because the law does not pass away which means that judgement for our sins cannot be negated.

Many would deny major events in the bible eg a loving God wouldn’t have killed millions by the flood they claimed, and yet called themselves people of Faith. I called it unbelief. If they could only feel the pain and suffering Jesus chose to bear at the Cross when He holds the world in His hands and could have sent legions to destroy the Romans. There was no other way to redeem our deaths.
