The New Normal, a time for revival

John 20:19 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

A new study by the PEW Research Center in the US showed that the overall Christian share of the population has declined from 78.4% to 70.6% from 2007 to 2014 over 8 years. This equates to a fall from 178.1 to 172.8 million Christians. (US adult population grew 227.16 to 244.8 mil). Continue reading

Ikea- who is the bully

Isa 1:17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.

The IKEA support for Pastor Lawrence Khong of Love Singapore Magic shows has resulted in a strong protest by the GLBT groups.

IKEA is unfairly singled out as Khong’s other ministries such as Touch Community Services are widely supported by hundreds of companies. The only difference is that the Community Services do good rather than useless magic to enter into the market place of the mountain of entertainment.

In response, Bertha Henson reminded GLBTs that IKEA also supported gay artists and it was a matter of diversity. She questioned whether we are instead the bully? Continue reading

Bali 9 – Cherishing Life

Mat 6:31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

The Bali 9 has become Bali 7 with the execution of Andrew Chan, and Mayuran Sukumaran.

Andrew Chan was married to Febyanti Herewila on the eve of his execution as his final wish. The ceremony was conducted by David Soper, a Salvation Army minister. (unlike gays who would have no right to marriage even without prison bars). Continue reading

Nepal – Where was God

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it wasgood; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

In Nepal, the davastating earthquake and the subsequent landslides in the Himalaya mountains in the peak of the climbing period have caused a very high death toll of at least 10,000 people.

Are the Nepalese totally innocent and righteous before man and God as to prevent the quake? No, neither are we. We are all sinners. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Continue reading

Plight of the Rohingya, where is love by people of faith

Ex 23:9 Also you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of astranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Mat 7:12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

The news of a minority Burmese Muslim Bangladeshi group also known as Rohingya being very brutally treated in Burma Rakhine state and even forced to flee via boats is an attrocious act against common humanity. Malaysia and Indonesia each with over 100K of refugees seemed reluctant to accept more despite being of the same faith. Continue reading

We all need bailouts

Acts 3:13 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our ancestors has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him.

Acts 3:15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

In Singapore, the famous Amos Yee, the anti-LKY, and anti-Jesus blogger is still in remand. It was because the bail wasn’t given, not that cash was required. It is understandable that his parents would be reluctant as the bail conditions were strict.

If Amos had been smart, he would have left out his anti-Jesus rant and his vile sexual drawing of LKY. Now, even the liberal activist could not support him out loud as a freedom of speech argument alone. Perhaps, He is very smart and did it all for fame and for youtube hits regardless of the consequences. Alas, Amos would not find support because unlike CPF, it is not personal. Continue reading

Be angry for what

Ps 4:4 Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.

Why are we so angry? Even entering into fights that don’t belong to us. The news of an angry and vile anti Lee Kuan Yew and anti-Jesus video made by 16 year old Amos Yee has been making Youtube rounds with over 200,000 hits. Any claims of being intelligent is negated by the repeated cursing and curses at Jesus Christ. I saw Amos at a liberal Christian event perhaps taken there by his mum. It did not help. Surely, we can’t blame his parents.

The liberal US newspapers who are now making Amos their mascot for free speech would do well to remember that from the 60s to the 80s was a time of great turbulence. The US for example, from 69’ to 75’ bombing of Cambodia resulted in over 600,000 innocent deaths. The bombing exceeded the entire World War II payload. But, newspapers are often biased, selective nor are entirely independent. Free speech can be a conduit for external influences as we well know from the legions of US preachers visiting Singapore each week. Continue reading

Easter 2015

Is 46:3 “Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. 4 Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

Matt 5:13-16 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

Easter 2015, the Cross seems so far away just as much as the remnant of Israel had forgotten about ever returning to Jerusalem in Isa 46:3. After a long wait, we begin to live in unbelief although still calling ourselves people of faith. Without vision, we perish and return no more. So is for many of us in the GLBT Christian community. Will we be able to come Home to our new Jerusalem on earth as it is in heaven? Continue reading

Lee Kuan Yew, the Champion of Singapore

The prossession at Parliament House has just passed. It was raining heavily. The cheering of “Lee Kuan Yew” of Singaporeans and residents braving the heavy rain to farewell their cherished leader have bought Singapore together. A nation of champion complainers were in one united voice giving honor and glory to the Father of Modern Singapore.

LKY has led a very frugal life. His home in Orchard was simple and basic. If the mega church pastors had lived as such, Singapore would have been a far different place. He had put the prosperity of the nation first and would not let go, and not his own prosperity. Continue reading

One day at a time Lord Jesus

Mat 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Mat 6:25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

It was a common saying at City Harvest that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I remembered it was from AR Bernard, hence the incredible planning for the Cross Over and the management of the various stake holders.

For all intention, to my City Harvest friends, I have failed! I am the tail and not the head. I don’t own a house, or a car. Even my SGD 500 guitar I gave it away to the CHC Pinoy cell group when they asked for it. Continue reading
