The Noahic covenant – rights for women and gays

Gen 6:1,2 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

Gen 6:4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

In the religious and social journey after the flood, we see a profound fear that God will destroy mankind with a mentality for women to cover up as a matter of religious duty in case angels were tempted again. It was heterosexual sex producing strange flesh that caused the destruction of the world into a slippery slope of immorality.

We often generalise it as sin causing the flood and some even call it a myth to avoid their construction of a God of love being challenged. As we begin to unlock the ancient history/religious practices the reason and justification for the flood becomes clear:-

a. The tower of Babel set the scene where mankind tried to reach to the heavens and they almost managed to. At the top, it is rumoured that there were beds where women would have sex with the demonic angels coming down from the heavens. Hence, mankind was joined with the gods producing strange flesh.

b. Although, Babel was brought down with the confusion of speech, the practices continued on, and in Gen 6:1-4, the angels came down and had supernatural chidren with mankind. They produced supernatural beings. Hence, there was inherent sin in the bloodline. It was not homosexual same sex actions that was the issue, but heterosexual sex where the angels came down and mate with the women.

Hence, the flood was a cleansing of sorts where all was to be destroyed so that mankind can restart again.

After the flood, the worship of the deities continued and religious people of faith did indeed have sex with the temple priests to join themselves with the gods in the worship of Baal, and angels did come down to have sex with women to produce giants of strange flesh in Sodom and Gomorrah. These abomonations were religious in nature. However, due to the Noahic covenant of grace, the flood did not come again.

The great deception is that the notion of sin and the sliding slope of morality was homosexuality whereas blibically it was the mass sex orgies between women and the demonic principalies. It was heterosexuality not homosexuality, and the call of God for makind to populate the earth being corrupted. And the religions have the audacity to blame gays for it. It was heterosexual sex that led to the sin of the destruction of mankind.

The rights of women also changed as a result. For example, the worship of the spiritual deities became an affair for the men. The OT mentioned men having sex with men in their religious worship rather than women because it became the manner for which the demonic spirit possess mankind. Hitherto, it was the angels coming down to have sex with the women. There was a cover-up of the daughters of men so that the angels would not be attracted.

In the NT, Paul had condemned Lesbianism, because it was so prevalent in the mass religious orgies by people of faith to worship Aphrodite of Corinth. In 1 Tim 2:12, Paul was also perturned by the worship of the goddess Dianna/Artemis of Ephesus where the women had authority over men, and the goddess preferred women over men. Later, the worship of Mary by some Christians were adapted from Diane with the Feast of the Assumption (Mary was assumed into heaven) was the festival for the ancient goddess Dianna.

Same sex attraction between men even though it was famous in Greece and even termed as “born Eunuch” in ancient Israel was looked upon as an exception rather than a religious abomination because it did not involve worshiping other gods.

The flood has had a major impact on religious faith beliefs where the women became veiled as not to expose any flesh as not to attract any attention from other men or the angels. Religious faith became a predominantly male affair. Coupled with the female orietated emphasis of the later religious worship in Corinth and Ephesus, the Christian faith became rather senstive to exposed flesh. Alas, the world has changed with a visit to the magazine stand with the many pictures of semi-nude women.

When we see religion today, of women in veil, of the ban against women priests, of persecution and discrimination against gays because they are more feminine than straight men, and where men seek religion in the dark, all came out of the deep scars from the flood. Yet, God promised never to destroy mankind, and instead of judgement proclaiming grace despite the fact that we continue to engage in the spiritual and demonic world.

What does the covenant means to us today? How do we live our lives, and have our being with God, and with one and all. How do you give grace to others, give space to others rather than judging them without love nor mercy. We give grace because God has given us grace. From the flood, God gave us space to be. Let us not impose our space on others, for God gave us grace.
