Hebrews 8:6 but now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
We see the rubble on the outside but God sees the rubble within. How can we return when we have always been in the desert. We are in rubble even though wealthy of talent because we have not continued the call.
The existence of GLBT Christian churches many on the fringes of christian theology nor believe in the inspiration of the Word of God is simply God’s amazing grace. The very fact that we still exist is amazing and a cause for celebration. We have so many broken and bitter people who had lost so much needing the gift of faith yet receiving a religion based on self when they can’t help themselves. Ultimately our focus should be Jesus our redemption and our Justice.
We need a fresh infilling of the holy spirit rather than the do it yourself love thy neighbour dogma. It is an inward ministry of faith, justice, reconciliation, and peace rather than outward. We need to reach a point of faith where Jesus becomes our restoration.
We are all destined for rubble nor matter how we deconstruct and construct because sin and unbelief clouds our heart when we still believe our love for others can save us and be our righteousness.
Rom 5:17 For if by one man’s offence, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life throrighteousnessJesus Christ.
Our identity should be rooted in Jesus Christ as God rather than some distant mysterious universal creator god. The need of the GLBT community is so glaring and this is where we will find our purpose in meeting the spiritual needs. Without being joined to the Jesus the vine, there is no food, no manna from heaven, and our people die without revelation. We can only feed broken fish and bread, Christ Himself.
Rom 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The Word of God, the Word of faith is often not preached and replaced by a watered down theology, the word of man. It’s like a mirage in the desert for the thirsty. It’s too simplistic to group gays as simply another marginalised group when exploited migrant workers, poor people, or colored were never considered a sin by itself unlike being gay. If faith is not restored, there is nothing they come to church for.
We confess weekly that our failure is to love God and failure to do social justice, when it is a failure of faith of unbelief in Jesus. We only align with Jesus acts of good works rather than accept Jesus as God and saviour. We try to save others in social justice when we can’t save ourselves. Let us return to our identity in Christ if we are indeed a child of God.
We will always fail to love. Only Jesus can. We minister to a very hurting and despised people where simple love will not do and the very word itself corrupted by the likes of Love Singapore. When our eyes turn to Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, His light flows through us. When we focus on the need, we will be in rubble. When we focus on Jesus, He will supply the need.
Ezekiel who was called for a prophetic voice but the work to return from captivity was by another deliverer, Nehemiah through God’s grace and plan. We all have our parts. When God makes the way, it is still tough work for Nehemiah but there was a road in the wilderness to come back. It is God who provides the way. When we do work, God stops working. We still do the walking but the road is already there prepared by God. We don’t make the road by walking but by our covenants with God. His promises are yea and amen when it founded on the victory at the Cross.
We first realise not that every faith are equal, for God’s primary calling is Christ centered. We pray to the god of many names when actually His name is Jesus. When we stand on the name of Jesus, then we can truly call ourselves a Christian church standing on the solid Rock which gives sustaining life, the living waters needed by the gay community. The vultures will flock to the dead carcass. They need no invitation to come Home.
We go back to ancient Israel, where the outcasts of society would naturally want to go to our churches to experience the tangible presence of Jesus. We are the lights of the city because we reflect Christ and it is not our own light or our own religion nor love for others. When Christ is really in the centre, there will be no back door and it will draw gays to church.
When challenged by the pharisees who insisted on the same old religion summarised as the love commandments, Jesus was saying that much greater grace was available to those they deemed sinners and outcasts because of their humility and realization of need. Jesus can’t save until we realise we need saving and our self effort is tits up. Intellect and religious work and self effort stops us from seeing God. Of course, for the privileged middle class Methodist they can still fall back to the good life.
When the Pharisees complained that Jesus spent too much time with sinners coming to Him, Jesus explained God’s heart, the lost sheep represent Jesus the good sheperd to Israel, the lost coin representing the Holy Spirit who finds and fills the believers, searching the truths of God’s word for the believers, bringing the presence of God to the gentiles, and lastly the wayward son, representing the Father heart of God of infinite compassion.
The outcasts came to Jesus in droves. The sheep came to Jesus rather than Jesus looking for the lost sheep because the holy spirit was bringing them home for the compassion of the Father was Amazing grace. It is His love not our love. Were the hierarchical powers defeated? Nope. Their rubble was inward.
For the gay church, the return to our calling is perhaps presumptuous for the privileged few for many of us are just trying to survive. We are in the exile lands of Babylon. Our lives has been taken from us. Some of us are privileged born to rich families and don’t feel as much the burning sun. But most are suffering lost and injustice and the resulting impact in our lives.
It is not outward works of love that is needed to sooth the pain for the pain and suffering is inward for our lives and relationships are stolen by religion and her laws. In our desert, the gay church should be a place where there is shade during the day, a pillar of cloud of God’s presence at night to guide the way and breakfast of manna from heaven in the morning.
The water is from the rock which is Jesus to quench our thirst. When God is working, He provides for everything. Our part is to follow, to eat, walk, and drink. Our work is light for the yoke of Jesus is light and not back-breaking heavy work. It is to minister inwardly to a very hurting tribe with a message that Christ has become our recompense and restoration.
When shall we return from the rubble of broken rocks and sand storms in the desert to the promised land of faith? When we have right believing. When the King is at home, He will build His church without walls and will bring justice and hope to a people without hope nor a future. And all those who mourn will come to His throne and be filled and be glad for He is a good God and His love endures forever.
Luke 3:4 … the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight, Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked pcondemnationbe made straight, And the rough ways smooth. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Our heart seeks restoration and the crooked and uphill and winding road we walk is straigtened for we are tired and weary of man made religion and her condemnation. Our call is to prepare the way of the Lord for hitherto under religion under law, there is no way for which our gay brethren can walk the road. For we need the salvation of God, the salvation in Jesus Christ both on earth as in heaven.
