light, knowledge and glory

2 Cor 4:16 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

Mankind seeks after light, glory, and knowledge. For the Romans conquered nations for the glory of Rome. The Greeks sought knowledge and the Jewish pharisees sought the light. Therefore, people of faith will light candles symbolising their way to God, their own way of peace, holiness and righteousness. But alas, finds only darkness. For the darkness is too thick and their man-made light could not overcome it.

They missed the glory, light, and knowledge of Jesus Christ as God and Saviour because their eyes are on their own self, their own light, knowledge and glory. The Jewish religious pharisees who could re-compile the whole bible by memory but could not even recognised the author of the bible, God Himself standing right in front of them in Jesus Christ. We might claim to be a Christian from a school of theology but missed it by a mile.

Some say we are made in God’s image (meaning that they can become little gods). And because the light of God is not in us, we keep seeking spiritual light yet not finding. We see knowledge through our own limited minds then claim we are progressive rejecting the supernatural, distancing ourselves from God which becomes a mystery replaced by the god within for many of us.

Ps 103:15 The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field;

Unlike God whom we claimed to be smarter than by constructing evolution and big bang in defiance of God’s creation of heaven and earth to mere chance, we cannot stop ourselves from decay despite all our scientific knowledge and religious light. Our glory fades away with age and we realised we are mere mortals. We are like the flower who today is and tomorrow no more.

James 1:9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.

Some christians are proud standing on their degrees from their school of religion condemning others even mega church pastors as less theologically qualified nor as intellectual as them, never mind the dry intellectual self-centered sermons devoid of the power and the spirit of God.

They are proud that they are more thinking than others and ordained by a church but one day we will fade away just like the flower of the burning heat of the day. We become dust. The church that we are ordained will also not last for nothing is everlasting unless built on the Rock. Where then is our boast? In ourselves?. I rather like Paul boast of Jesus Christ of His finished works and glory at the Cross.

God uses the weak things that the wise, the spiritual, the proud and the powerful be confounded. God uses a wooden rod of Moses to bring down the spiritual deities of Egypt. For the liberals activist, God should have come down from Mt Sinai, empower the masses to rise up and defeat the Pharoah to deliver the oppressed from Egypt.

However, God waited until one of their own, a Jew, who lost everything from an exalted position of glory, power and honour at the royal palace to be exiled a lonely shepherd in the emptiness of the wilderness in the edge of the desert. God uses the humble, those who have emptied themselves, totally weak and therefore totally dependent upon the light, glory and knowledge of God.

The liberals would have raised up a social justice movement of regime change against the cruel and oppressive Pharoah. However, the land was under deep spiritual bondage by the gods of Egypt. Without the strong man in the house being bound, how could we take his belongings. The real power in the land is the spiritual principality over the land and the nations!.

When we bind the forces of darkness in the heavens, we loosened the grip on the people. Ultimately, the Jews were oppressed by the forces of darkness over the land because they are God’s chosen. The Pharoah was but an agent of the gods of egypt, the all seeing eye at the apex of the pyramid which even today manifested itself in the founding of the US by the new age freemasons reflected in the dollar note.

In the many thousands of mainline liberal churches across the US speaks of God and even quote from the bible but often they don’t put Jesus at the center but self! It is like a Jew bringing himself only to the temple without the ordained sacrifice. We will be stucked outside and unable to enter because we are sinners without redemption under the curse and judgement. For the temple is holy ground and God’s abode on earth. Adam cannot enter in back to the garden protected by angels with flaming swords and mankind has been trying ever since.

When the Holy Spirit is in the church, there is light, just as the menorah was lighted in the holy place in the temple beyond the altar of the animal sacrifice for our sins. But there would be no light in a church who thought that the blood and broken body of lamb is not required, and they do not need God’s salvation for eternal life so that the judgement of God falls on the lamb. The Holy Spirit will not exalt the flesh of man.

They cannot enter the Holy Place because they are still sinners without the sin offering. The Holy Spirit will only reside in sanctified vessels. We may even call ourselves a church, but it is an empty shell without light, for light is of Christ, the lamb of God being sacrificed whom we are now rejecting as unnecessary.

After the power and light of the Holy Spirit, we enter into darkness into the Holy of Holies. Here we have the Light of the Shekhinah glory in the Holy of Holies. The light is between the cherubin above the mercy-seat where the Lamb of God whose blood is shed and sprinkled. This is the place where we are covered/protected and at rest under the wings of the almighty.

At the end, mortal man will passed away. What remains is the glory, light and knowledge of God displayed in the face of Jesus Christ. The law tries the cover the glory like Moses using a veil because his light is fading away. But in Christ the light is everlasting full of glory and honour for Jesus Christ is lord and saviour. If we seek to behold the glory and light of God, we must look away from ourselves, and look to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
