The Liberal Christians talk about love, but when the Sri lankan bombings occurred you could not see the likes of the gay metropolitan churches putting a statement of solidarity with the affected Christian churches whilst they went out of their way to proclaim solidarity with the minority faith in Christchurch when the terrorist actions occurred there including highlighting white supremacist and religious phobias. Even when the faith community there sickeningly blame the Jews, there is no condemnation of the antisemitism.
The Catholic proclaimed that the terrorist should be persecuted to the letter of the law and they should be. But there was absolute quiet in the governments in the middle east and south east Asia who had vehemently condemned the Christchurch killings. But when their faith was implicated, absolute silence and no apologies and regrets.
In fact, in the US, there was a convert to a minority faith, who wanted to set up an incident to kill the white supremacist in response to the New Zealand killings. So much about the talk of religious faith being about love. There is no widespread condemnation again by the liberal churches in the states.
The problem with the love proclaimed is that it is very selective, cost them nothing. There is no sacrifice of praise. This is contrasted with the response of the Zion Evangelical Church where thirty worshipers including 14 children were killed. They didn’t behave like the liberals who wouldn’t even mention the word christian!. But they were not ashamed of their faith.
In a Facebook video, Pastor Roshan said
“As the senior pastor of Zion Church Batticaloa, the whole congregation and every family affected, we say to the suicide bomber, and also to the group that sent the suicide bomber, that we love you and we forgive you, no matter what you have done to us, we love you, because we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
“Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34).
The love commandments does not work because it is based on the letter of the law, ie we only love our family and friends, those who deserved to be loved. But the Cross of Calvary gives us power to love beyond the mandates of the law, and that this love is shown through giving grace and mercy. Therefore, despite their church members being killed, the Senior pastor was able to say, “We love you” to the terrorist.
Unlike the liberals in the Christchurch massacre, the Senior pastor didn’t mention endlessly the faith of the perpetrators, or their bigotry, hatred, and motivations. He just said “We love You”. When Peter betrayed Jesus Christ at the Cross, under the law, he was betraying God, hence deserved to be rejected forever. But when Jesus came, He just called Him for breakfast. There was no condemnation, not even a word of what Peter did. This is Grace, love personified in Jesus Christ. Without Jesus Christ, there is no love, grace nor mercy but only judgement seen in many religious faiths based on the religious law.
As the Sri Lankan Churches buries their dead, the blood of those who died, calls out for revival in the land. The killings are a major shock for South Asia, a land where Christianity has been so watered down by the liberal Christianity of the national Council of churches, and where persecutions against Christians have been unchecked and totally ignored by the Western liberal media.
The Christian revival in South Asia, the transformation to Christianity from other faiths is beginning to sweep India and Sri lanka like never before. And they will know the great measure and heart of God of Amazing Grace to turn away from their pagan worship.
John 13: 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” 36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” 37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!
The rooster has crowed in Sri lanka, and the Christians there has laid down their lives for Jesus Christ because of love, their great love for Christ resulting in them even loving those who had killed them, for they looked to the Cross, to Christ death and sufferings knowing that they will rise again one day when Jesus Christ comes back.
