Luke 9:51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.

Mark 6:11 And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

The 377a debate is coming back to Singapore after the Indian Supreme Court effectively scraped it and called it totally unjustified and against basic human rights. The just doesn’t operate based on majority opinion. If so, countries which have few evangelical christians may called upon the banning of evangelism due to strongly felt views contrary to basic religious freedoms.

I am reminded in the bible that the disciples really despised the Samaritans and Jesus bought us an example of James and John wanted to call down fire from heaven to destroy the Samaritan village. Why the incredible angst? because the Samaritans also worshiped the God of Israel albeit on a different mountain. Why Jesus showed us the example rather than say a pagan village worshiping pagan gods? for Jesus himself called the Canaanite woman, a temple dog!

Jesus was making a subtle point that the Jews worshiping at Mt Zion were in essence not much different from the Samaritans worshiping at Mt Gerizim. They are all sinners under the law needing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. They are no greater sinners. So too are gays compared with straight people. The Jews were so angry because they consider the Samaritans great sinners but could not find an adequate reason to condemn them. It was a grey area of where to worship.

The association by Love Singapore of gays to drug addicts, alcoholism, etc, etc doesn’t make homosexuality a sin by our mere labelling. Because being gay is so innate, it is very gray whether homosexuality could actually be called a sin. So the mega church pastors would place all the sins of the straight community such as adultery and abortion on the gay community to blame for the breakdown of the family, this so-called slippery slope. They are angry because it is a grey area, and the church very likely wrong. It is a very loud voice to hide weak arguments. Gays are like the modern-day Samaritans.

Calling destruction upon the Samaritans could be likened to insisting on 377A, to put gays in jail. But the opposite is coming true as more gays are coming out of the closet, and not even coming out as they were never in the closet and accepted themselves since young. The church gets angrier and angrier every time they see gays holding hands just like straight couples. Why is it a sin when straight couples also fall in love! They now try to frame it as struggling with same sex attraction but the only struggle is the church not accepting gays.

What spirit are you? and the same question Jesus is asking the church on 377A for Jesus Christ came to save us, and be our salvation. He did not come to destroy which is the work of satan. So when we called for 377A to be enforced, we entertained the spirit of satan into the church, and it will bring destruction of the church through immorality, the very same sin we blame gays for,

Satan is a great deceiver and whispers lies to the church. Instead of seeing Christ and His redemption and power, we begin to insist on the law of Moses. Gays are breaking bible laws we proclaimed. But homosexuality is not in the Ten Commandments. Adultery is, and so why is the church not insisting that adultery and abortion be banned under the law. Because that would tie immorality to straight people!

Evangelical Christianity is a minority faith in many countries. The rest worship pagan gods. Jesus said that those who rejects Him as Lord and Saviour, their fate is worst than Sodom and Gomorrah, the two cities constantly used by Christians to identify with homosexuality when these people are not even gays but people with families, women and children all steeped in Baal worship and human sacrifices and men having sex with the priest to join themselves with Satan. So why are we not putting into jail as worst sinners than “gays” those who reject Jesus if we truly believed that Sodom and Gommorah personified homosexuality!

We are called salt not because we point to the law which causes death and condemnation because it reveals sin within,  but to be a mirror to Jesus Christ that He can be our salvation on earth as in heaven. Not only is the church imposing their own skewed and biased morality on a people group, they are going beyond their domain and standing. They have no right outside the church walls! when we go outside the church to condemn others and insist on them being sin, we opened the church gates to the world coming into the church to pull out all our skeletons to parade in the streets,

As evangelical charismatic christians, we who know the spirit of God, we are called to be of a better spirit because Christ is in Us, the Hope of Glory. We are to be a reflection of God’s grace, mercy, and love, because of God’s grace knowing that we sinners saved and redeemed by grace and grace alone. Alas, fire has been called down by Christians upon the Samaritans. Many gays have died by our condemnation. It is just rubble and skeletons of lives destroyed and lost because of the Christian church. But the blood cries out for justice and vengeance.

The village has been burned down. No one is left. Lives are ruined by our false witness calling that which is innate, a sin, confusing the abomination of pagan worship with same sex relationships. But everywhere they look, the eyes of these mega church pastors will see gays, getting younger and younger, holding hands together, as if they are everywhere. And these pastors and their congregation will grow angrier and angrier calling fire from heaven, not realising that fire will come not on gays, but on the church, and it will be a painful cleansing fire.
